“Journeying Mercies”

On Monday 20th we left Bermuda on a morning flight for New York where we picked up our British Airways carrier for London then on to Cape Town South Africa. How was I to know that while the routing  could have been different, God had a lesson to teach us about His divine protection and enabling?

Well I am more convinced that God is concerned about and involved in even the apparently insignificant things in our lives… like seeing that the bags, which contained some donated articles for Africa, were transported at no additional cost.

on the New York to London flight, there were some little irritants. Evie’s light switch would not operate to allow her to read when the general cabin lights lights were off and neither would the TV monitor function properly. This was reported with no real interest expressed by those concerned and she quickly resorted to sleeping a few hours (which she needed).

When we went to check our departure gate from Heathrow, London, she mentioned the incident to the customer service person who took note and asked that we check back later. When we did we were “bumped up” to business class for the long London to Cape Town leg of the trip!

In all the hustles of life, have you stood still long enough to see God’s plan unfold for your good?

O.K. you may say coincidence, I say providence! I was due to arrive in Capetown on the Wednesday morning and scheduled to start speaking that same evening after two days flying!   With the upgrade we were able to stretch out and sleep in this relatively comfortable bed.

My God, knowing my need for rest,   was able to use that small malfunction to get us the needed to facilitate preparedness to minister. NO DETAIL IS TO INSIGNIFICANT FOR HIM TO KNOW ABOUT NOR TOO TRIVIAL FOR HIM TO COME UP WITH THE APPROPRIATE SOLUTION. After all, he takes care of sparrows why would He not care for His own?

I am learning to look for God in even the small things of life and to be challenged to please him so that I will not dishonour Him. His mercies are shown in our going out and coming in.

We arrived safely in Cape Town with all our bags and were met by our gracious hosts the Maasdorp’s. Tonight He gave the liberty to minister and hearts, including my own, were blessed.

Missionary Journey to Africa

I have been asked why Africa. Most times folk are honest to remind me that I was ambushed on my first African trip to Nigeria. Well I surely am not a martyr. I am compelled to go where the Lord leads. The ministry takes me to several countries and it is always a joy to see the Lord working miraculously in changing lives.

I have seen this so often in Africa. I am blessed in my spiritual walk by the Lords people there.  Many are needy but they have a hunger for the word of God. There are brilliant students of the word there who build me up in my faith as well

This trip is particularly anticipated as Evie, who is on summer break from school, will travel with me. The stay in South Africa was intended as vacation, the itinerary is now mainly ministry at several locations in the Eastern Cape. Pray for humility, strength and a rich harvest.

Meeting with our “adopted family” in Zambia is anticipated a renewal as we encourage them following the loss of a young daughter.

The main task is speaking at the Pan African Brethren Conference on Missions in Kabwe. We anticipate folk from several African countries and beyond.

Please log on as I update you as often as I could get internet connection.

Introducing my blog…

I am convinced that communication is vitally important in our time. I reminisce on the days after going to study in England when I would write home to my folk and wait, at least 3-4 weeks for a response. Technology makes communicating across the miles instantaneous.

I am pleased about that as I can share experiences especially while away on missions. Not only is it news for readers but, hopefully, they will be able to praise God for blessings and supplicate the throne of grace for all that is needed to meet challenges.

I trust that you will visit often, be with Evie and me as we serve and take an active part by praying and supporting in whatever way you feel lead.

Please keep in touch and let me know how this blog can be improved for your pleasure and God’s glory.
